Following the critical acclaim of Revolver: A New Spin — one of the Village Voice's "Top Ten Recordings of 2000" — Ann Dyer returns with When I Close My Eyes, her debut release on Sunnyside Records. As its title suggests, the new disc finds Dyer turning inward, leaving behind the familiar sound of the Beatle's music to wade into a darker, more enigmatic space — an ocean of quiet longing where the heart finds solace in its own insistent pulse. With a spare sonic palette of vocals, acoustic bass and drums, and production by Brian Michel Bacchus, Dyer achieves her most intimate and subtly moving work to date.

On July 7 Ann Dyer appears at Yoshi's Nitespot in Oakland in the Bay Area CD Release Celebration of her debut recording on Sunnyside Records, When I Close My Eyes. The evening will feature Dyer performing music from the new release in the premiere performance of her neo-chamber ensemble. Comprising Dan Cantrell on accordion, Marika Hughes on cello, Devin Hoff on bass and multi-percussionist Timothy Quigley, the evocative new group is the first departure Dyer has made from her band No Good Time Fairies in almost ten years.

CHICO HAMILTON AND ANN DYER BROUGHT TOGETHER FOR DANCE REMIX

Check out the innovative dance re-mix by Brian Bacchus produced for SoulFeast Productions featured as a "bonus track" on the new CD.. Bacchus ingeniously intertwined samples the brush work and cat calls of legendary drummer Chico Hamilton with Dyer's siren song, " Underworld". The bare-bones original version was transformed into a lush, mysterious, deep-groove track supported by Rob Burger (Tin Hat Trio) on accordion, Liberty Elliman on electric guitar, Serge Brandao on electric bass and Jailton Dende on percussion.
